Which Tom Cruise movie made the most money at the box office?

The actor has a 40-year hit career, including “War of the Worlds,” “A Few Good Man,” and “Jerry Maguire.” This weekend he returned to his iconic character of “Maverick” Mitchell in “Top Song: Maverick”.

In his long, colorful career, Cruise’s movies have grossed $ 10 billion worldwide at the box office, but which has been the highest grossing box office?

Here is a list of Cruise’s biggest blockbusters at the domestic box office, adjusted for inflation, according to ComScore (SCOR).

5. “Farm”

Year: 1993

Box office profit: 158.3 million

Adjusted for inflation: $ 350.4 million

If you’re looking for a time when Tom Cruise was at the peak of his stardom, it’s hard to argue with the early 1990s.

Cruz starred in “A Few Good Men” in 1992 and “Interview with a Vampire” in 1994. Right in the middle of that blockbuster run was Wright SmackDab, one of his most lucrative films, 1993’s “The Farm.”

The actor has established himself as one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood in the role of a young lawyer who joined a law firm with some criminal intent. “The Farm” may not be one of Cruz’s most memorable roles, but it is one of his most successful.

It probably helped that it was based on John Grisham’s bestseller.

4. “Mission: Impossible II”

Tom Cruise returns to the role of Ethan Hunt in 'Mission: Impossible II'. In 2000.

Year: 2000

Box office profit: 215.4 million

Adjusted for inflation: 366 million

“Mission: Impossible II” came four years after the original, but still made its mark.

The John Woo film – in which Cruz’s spy Ethan Hunt hunts a bio-weapon – strikes a different tune than its predecessor (for example, lots of slow motion action sequences). However, it still has an audience to help Cruz enter another decade of box office dominance.

Despite being the second-highest-grossing installment in the series, it is the only rotten score in the Rolling Spy franchise – 57% in Rotten Tomatoes – the worst-reviewed film in the Mission: Impossible series.

3. “Mission: Impossible”

Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt in a scene from the 1996 film Mission: Impossible.

Year: 1996

Box office profit: $ 180.9 million

Adjusted for inflation: $ 375 million

The “Mission: Impossible” brand defined Cruz’s career and helped him to remain a movie star for the past 25 years. The series also bottled up money, grossing more than চলচ্চিত্র 3.5 billion at the global box office over six films. The next film in the series, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” will be released in theaters next year.

The original film – directed by Brian de Palma – was about “Oh my God, did Tom Cruise just do that stunt?” More of a cerebral spy thriller than that. Opponent Ye was still in 1996 and one of the biggest hits of Cruz’s career.

2. “Rain Man”

Tom Cruise starred in

Year: 1988

Box office profit: 172.8 million

Adjusted for inflation: $ 385.1 million

Cruz has built a career as an action star, but his second highest grossing film is an award-winning drama.

“Rain Man”, in which Cruz played the brother of an autistic person, Dustin Hoffman, was not only a huge hit, but also won multiple Academy Awards. These include Best Actor for Hoffman, Best Director for Barry Levinson, and Best Picture.

Cruz, however, was not nominated for the film. In fact, Cruz never won an Oscar.

1. “Top gun”

'Top Gun' with Tom Cruise in 1986 by Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell.

Year: 1986

Box office profit: 179.8 million

Adjusted for inflation: $ 443.9 million

It’s no surprise that Cruz’s most iconic role comes in his highest-grossing movie.

The film – in which Cruz played the role of an anxious pilot competing for the best in the Navy – took the 1986 box-office crown and made Cruz the star we know today.

It also changed the film industry by combining thrilling action sequences, an addictive soundtrack from the 1980s, and memorable characters played by up-and-coming stars.

With this weekend’s “Top Song: Maverick,” Cruise will see if viewers still feel the need for speed.
