During the ongoing war in Eastern Europe, a Ukrainian man gives details of his horrific fight after being shot in the face and buried alive by Russian soldiers.
I’m talking CNN, Mykola Kulichenko reveals that she and her brothers, Yvonne and Dimitro, were shot and buried by Russian troops, three and a half weeks after Russia invaded their country. The 33-year-old said on March 18 that Russian troops targeted his home as they searched for Ukrainians responsible for a nearby Russian military bombing.
Mr Kulichenko told the media outlet that he and his siblings were kneeling in the front yard as Russian troops searched the house – looking for something to link them to the bombed convoy. Once they found a military medal owned by their grandfather and a military bag belonging to Yvonne, who was a paratrooper, the soldiers were convinced they had something to hide.

The 33-year-old, along with his two brothers, was then taken to a basement where they were interrogated for three days. Mr Kulichenko revealed that on the fourth day, when he hoped the Russians would release them, they beat him with a metal rod and put a barrel of gun in his mouth. The 33-year-old said he and his brothers were tortured until they lost consciousness.
The three were blindfolded, detained and taken to an isolated area in a military vehicle. They were on their knees, blindfolded, when a hole was dug, Mr. Kulichenko said. CNN.
At first, he said, he heard a gunshot behind him and his older brother Dimitro fell to the ground. After that, he felt Yewen come down to his side. Afterwards, Mr Kulichenko was shot, however, he said he was lucky enough to survive because the bullet entered his cheek and went out the side of his right ear. This is when he knew that his only hope of survival was the dead game.
According to Mr Kulichenko, Russian troops covered the bodies with soil and kicked them out of the hole. He did not know how long he was buried alive, but he somehow managed to get out of his brother’s body and return to the land of the living.

Mr Kulichenko said CNN“I had difficulty breathing because Dima (Dimitro) was lying on top of me, but using my arms and knees, I was able to push my older brother to the side of the hole and then I got up.”
Further, Mr. Kulichenko revealed that he then went to a nearby house through the fields, where a woman took him and cared for him overnight before being able to return to his sister, who had been anxiously waiting for several days at their father’s house.
“I was lucky … and now I just have to survive,” he added.

CNN According to the report, Mr Kulichenko’s story could be told as soon as the Russian retreat from the Chernihiv region begins in early April. The 33-year-old said his brothers, Dimitro and Yvonne, were later properly buried and buried in a well-furnished grave beneath a wide grave.
