BTS at White House: K-Pop Group Meets Joe Biden, Discusses Asian Hate Crimes

President Joe Biden thanked K-Pop supergroup BTS for shutting down the White House.

New Delhi:

Korean pop group BTS met with US President Joe Biden at the White House today. President Biden thanked the supergroup for being stopped by the White House.

“Thanks for stopping by the White House,” Biden posted on his official Twitter account with a photo with the K-Pop band.

The White House praised BTS’s floppy-haired, stylish stars as “young ambassadors who spread a message of hope and positivity around the world.”

The band members, all in their 20s and who are often seen wearing earrings and lipstick, have given a global voice to a generation that is comfortable with gender fluidity.

They are credited with making billions for the South Korean economy and enjoying the rise of their label profits despite having fewer concerts during the epidemic.

Biden, the oldest person to run for president at the age of 79, has often reached out to young celebrities and social media influencers, trying to add some glamor to his team’s messaging on social and health issues.

These included pop singer Olivia Rodrigo and the Jonas Brothers campaign to persuade young Americans to get their Covid-19 vaccine.
