Islamabad:

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given an ultimatum to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmud Khan that if the leader does not bring down the price of 10 kg wheat flour bag to Rs 400 within next 24 hours, he will sell his clothes and do so. It provides cheap flour to the people.

Addressing a public meeting at Thakara Stadium on Sunday, the Prime Minister said, “I repeat, I will sell my clothes and provide cheap wheat flour to the people.”

The political fervor in the public meeting was echoed in the Prime Minister’s address to the people. He pointed to former Prime Minister Imran Khan as saying that he had given the country the highest inflation and unemployment ever.

Prime Minister Sharif has also condemned the Imran Khan-led government for failing to deliver on its promise of 5 million houses and 10 million jobs, and pushed the country into an economic crisis.

“I sincerely declare to you that I will dedicate my life but take this country on the path of prosperity and development,” Dawn quoted Dawn as saying during the rally.

Talking about the Balochistan elections, the Prime Minister said that people had shown confidence in him and came to vote for him.

“It rarely happens, people in Balochistan crowded the polling booths and I expected the turnout to be between 30 and 35 per cent which is the people’s confidence in improving democracy and law and order.”

As Pakistan continues to be hit by rising fuel prices, Shahbaz Sharif has blamed Mr Khan for it.

“Imran Khan, who humiliates everyone in public, has reduced the price of petroleum products at a time when prices around the world are on the rise realizing that he will be ousted through a no-confidence motion,” he said, according to media portals.

During the rally, Prime Minister Sharif also praised his brother and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“I have back pain but even then I traveled to meet you and enjoyed the motorway ride all the way because I remembered Nawaz Sharif for his love for the people and this country,” said Shahbaz Sharif.

PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz also addressed the rally on Sunday. He praised his father Nawaz Sharif for his patriotism and scoffed at Imran Khan’s ‘Hakiki Azadi March’.
