'We can control an epidemic': Matthew McConnaghi in Texas shooting

Matthew McConnell has a long history of activism and philanthropy in his own state.

Washington:

Hollywood star Matthew McCannaghi, a resident of Uvalade, Texas, shared a social media message addressing the crowd at Rob Elementary School in his hometown.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, today’s tragedy has killed at least 19 children and two adults and is considered the deadliest school shooting since the 2012 Sandy Hook murders.

Addressing the incident, McCannaghi took to his Twitter handle and wrote a lengthy statement condemning the shooting.

It read: “Again, we have sadly demonstrated that we have failed to be accountable for the rights that our freedom gives us. Every American is urged to look deeper and deeper into the mirror and ask themselves, ‘What do we really value?’ “How can we fix the problem? What small sacrifices can we make today to save a healthy and secure nation, state and neighbor tomorrow?” We can’t breathe again, we can’t make excuses, we can’t accept this sad reality as a state of stability. “

“It’s an epidemic that we can control, and no matter which isle we stand on, we all know we can do better. We must do better. Steps must be taken to ensure that no parent or guardian experiences. Others have endured before, and those who have not said goodbye to their loved ones, no word can understand or heal your loss, but if prayer can comfort them, we will keep them coming, “the statement concluded.

The ‘Interstellar’ actor has a long history of activism and philanthropy in his home state and even considered running for governor last year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, McCannaghi said he supports the Second Amendment but believes in common sense gun law. He called for a ban on assault-style weapons and for a more comprehensive background check.
