Tobacco use worldwide is known to be the leading cause of cancer, as well as other health effects. Therefore, World No Tobacco Day is celebrated on 31st May every year to raise awareness about this issue.
Cigarette smoking is the most common form of tobacco use worldwide and is an addictive habit that has long-term, adverse health effects. Cigarettes contain chemicals that make this addiction particularly deceptive.
However, if you are involved in this habit, do not worry, because quitting smoking can be a difficult climb, but it is not impossible. So, here are some tips that anyone can choose from to get rid of this harmful habit.
Find your cause and get out of the cold turkey
You need to find a strong personal cause that will help you to quit smoking. After choosing the cause, just quit the cold turkey habit, which means don’t reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke, but eliminate it all at once.
After you break the loop by quitting smoking, you should keep yourself constantly busy with something because it will give your brain less chance to think about smoking.
Try snacking or chewing gum
When a person smokes they are not only addicted to nicotine but also have a habit of constantly putting something in their mouth. So it can be tackled by trying to eat fruit or chewing gum which will stick to your mouth and brain.
Drink enough water
The body needs plenty of water every day. Water helps flush toxins out of your body when a person quits smoking.
Exercise is known to reduce the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal and reduce greed. It helps you deal with stress and gain more energy by boosting your mood. So get some fresh air and go for a jug or go for a long walk if you don’t feel it.
Avoid alcohol and other triggers
When you drink alcohol, it is difficult to adhere to your non-smoking goals. Similarly, if you smoke frequently while drinking coffee, drink tea for a few weeks. Tobacco application is usually associated with the place or situation where you smoke. Therefore, identify your triggers and try to avoid them.
Many people try many times before they are actually able to quit smoking for good. So don’t be discouraged if you light a cigarette in a moment of weakness. Instead, think of these as actions that you must take on a regular basis to relapse.
